Sometimes nothing is more inspirational than a great Vegan success story! And, shamefully, when a celebrity is involved it makes me that little more excited. One celebrity endorsement is worth a hundred mere mortals as they have so much influence with the media and their fans.
And when that celebrity is already AWESOME? Well that just makes it even better. I've always loved both these actors but had no idea they were Vegans. See, I knew we developed a sixth sense after a while! Or maybe it's just the whole "cult" thing?
Here is their super cute and lovely article I stumbled across this morning on: madejustright.com
Funnyman Dax Shepard is known for his roles on the TV shows Parenthood and Punk'd, as well as for his role in the hilarious movie Idiocracy. In a recent interview in Playboy Magazine, he put all the funny business aside to talk about recently switching to a mostly vegan diet. Together with his fiancée, longtime animal lover and fellow actress, Kristen Bell, the two decided to opt for an animal-free diet after watching the provocative documentary, Forks Over Knives.
Dax revealed in his interview that he was encouraged to go vegan by actor Beau Bridges, who co-starred with him in the recent film Hit & Run:
"When I saw his age was 70, I almost crapped myself. I would go, “Jesus, Beau, you’re not supposed to be able to punch somebody out in a scene at 70. My grandpa couldn’t have done that. What’s your secret?” And he goes, “I’ve been a vegan for 12 years.” I was like, damn, I need to think about this. And then I saw Forks Over Knives and I was like, I’m in. I’ve been a vegan since January."
Discussing how he feels now that he's on a plant-based diet, Dax told the magazine:
"It's nothing like the pill in The Matrix but damn good, like 15% across the board in every respect... I sleep 15% better. My allergies are at least 15% better. I have fewer body aches. My skin looks better. I'm never starving, and I never need to ride the couch feeling completely full and disgusting."
Way to go Dax! And Kristen and Beau too!
